Old wounds are about to be reopened.

Struggling PI team Maddy Clifford and Paul Mackenzie find themselves involved by a chance meeting. How deep into those wounds will they have to delve to unravel the mystery?

Gripping and exciting, Crossfire is the brilliant first book in the brand new Clifford-Mackenzie Crime series.

Crossfire piques your interest from the very start, providing plenty of intriguing hints and plot points to keep you turning page after page. Of course, it has plenty of twists and turns to keep you on your toes, weaving a complex narrative through the book.

It's worth noting that there are quite a few characters and timelines to keep track of in this book. However, it's still highly readable and easy to follow once you get into the swing of things. The timelines are key, but the storyline is intricate, understated, and masterfully written.

Aside from the cast of characters, the real star of the show is the book's location. It's set in the Scottish Highlands, a setting that provides the perfect atmospheric backdrop to enrich both the plot and the book as a whole. It's gritty, realistic, and marvellously evocative.

As the book progresses, the stakes climb increasingly higher. This adds to the tension and suspense present throughout the story, creating a highly readable page-turner. Despite this, though, the book remains well-paced and avoids becoming overly rushed, as is often the case with books of this genre. It's well written and bound to drag you in!

I loved Crossfire and I can't wait to see what comes next in the series!
