The main character Lanie is a successful editor looking to take the next step with her career. The key? Bestselling romance author Noa Calloway. Noa is a secretive, private individual - in all the years of editing Noa's books, Lanie has never actually met Noa face-to-face. So, when the opportunity arises to do just that, Lanie is understandably excited and nervous in equal measure.
After discovering a shocking secret and learning that Noa's latest book is struck down by a bad case of writer's block, all of Lanie's carefully constructed plans for the future start to unravel around her. But when your life is changing, perhaps it's an opportunity to be dynamic and build a better future instead?
Lanie is a brilliant character - she's quirky yet relatable, with just enough zest to make her an intriguing, interesting personality. Despite her challenges she always has a plan and is strongly guided by her moral principles, and of course, a team of supportive friends and colleagues.
This was a quick read but an unputdownable one; as soon as I started reading, I was instantly engrossed in Lanie's story. Her life both in and out of work was fascinating to read about, and I was sorry to get to the end of the book so quickly! But does Lanie get her happily ever after? You'll have to read the book to find out!
