2021: My Year in Review

The Writing Greyhound 2021 Year in Review

I can't believe it's the end of another year already! It seems like only yesterday that I was sitting down to write my 2020 wrap-up post, and all of a sudden it's nearly 2022. Where does the time go?

2021 was definitely a more positive year overall, with the Covid vaccine rollout well underway, and the gradual easing of restrictions. Of course, we haven't seen the last of the pandemic yet, but it's important to try and stay positive.

So, with that in mind, what were my highlights of 2021?

  • We completed the first phase of our garden renovation project. I can't wait to sit out on our new decking next summer!
  • I smashed my Goodreads challenge and read a total of 101 books in 2021 - more than I've ever read in twelve months
  • We continued the excitement (and stress!) of wedding planning
  • I enjoyed a relaxing week in Cornwall with my family
  • Live music was finally back! After 3 postponed dates, I got to see one of my favourite bands again at last
  • I discovered the pure joy that is Mischief Movie Night In
  • We spent a fun-filled short break in Staithes and explored North Yorkshire together for the first time
  • I made the most of the restrictions easing in the summer by watching four shows (Magic Goes Wrong, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Back to the Future: The Musical, and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cinderella)
  • I put my health first, getting new glasses and my Covid vaccines - and just squeezing in the booster a few days ago!
  • I took part in the at-home YALC event for the second year in a row
  • NFL was back in London! Putting my season tickets to good use after a fallow year
  • I celebrated my cousin and his partner tying the knot
  • I went back to the cinema to watch a few eagerly-anticipated films
  • Christmas felt a little more normal this year - I was able to spend time with family and friends, visit a Christmas market, attend the church carol service, and walk a beautiful winter light trail

Well, that's 2021, but what about 2022? I've got big things planned for the next twelve months - fingers crossed that everything goes according to plan!

What are your 2021 highlights? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. It's necessary to count all the positive things these days, isn't it? My highlights would be being able to catch up with my daughters and grandson (at least more frequently than in 2020) and taking 3 short breaks to Yorks, Lincs, and Argyll. Looking back I think I was too cautious, as 2022 looks like it might be dreadful!!
