How To Embrace Your Wild Side as an Adult

AD* | There comes a point in everyone’s life where they question the path that they are pursuing. Getting caught up in work, school, and regular life activities can lead to an uneasy existence where you’re not truly satisfied in life. Often, this is due to the natural phenomenon where you are left wondering whether the grass really is greener on the other side. However, sometimes it’s because you are not embracing certain aspects of life that you’re yearning for, deep down.

In many cases, overcoming this dissatisfaction is an easy fix. Small lifestyle changes can transform how you live, and in turn, perceive your life. For many people, this involves embracing their 'wild side'.

However, tuning into the wilder section of your personality doesn’t have to involve danger. Embracing your wild side involves getting to know yourself better, and opening yourself up to new and exciting adventures.

With this in mind, here are five ways to embrace your wild side as an adult.

Make a Travel Wishlist

For many people, travelling gives their lives meaning. Exploring this beautiful planet not only breaks up the monotony of our daily routines but also gives us an alternative perspective on life. Exposing yourself to other cultures, taking in new scenery, and embarking on adventures taps into your primal instincts and energises you.

Create a travel wishlist of places that you’d like to go. Once you have five to ten locations in mind, set about creating hypothetical plans for visiting them. Figure out which destinations are most realistic with regard to your lifestyle and budget, then book yourself a holiday!

Stop Making Excuses

Excuses will hold you back from achieving your dreams in life. As a natural defence mechanism, your mind creates excuses to justify your actions. Plus, if you're not careful, a lifetime of restraint can lead to significant regret. Overthinking things diminishes the chances of them occurring.

Stop making excuses, and instead, find reasons to commit fully to ideas and adventures.

Face Your Fears

Facing your fears head-on can be life-altering. By challenging yourself to overcome something you’ve always been afraid of, you demonstrate bravery, courage, and ability. Once you surpass one challenge, the next one becomes less daunting. Facing your fears can help you to create a successful and satisfying life.

Get a Piercing

Piercings are often viewed as a form of rebellion. It involves modifying your body to provide a certain look. If you’ve always wanted a piercing but have been too scared to actually go through with it, why not just go for it?

Whether you want to show off sparkling belly bars the next time you’re at the beach, or you fancy a cute nose ring, don't be afraid to take the leap. Just remember - piercings don't have to be permanent and most are widely accepted nowadays.

Be Honest with Yourself

If you constantly feel like your lifestyle needs to change, you’re probably onto something. Be honest with yourself, and if you feel like you need a little wildness, embrace it. Take the opportunity to learn from the life you've lived and allow yourself to take the next step forward with a positive mindset.

Likewise, if you make changes to explore a life that you thought you wanted, don’t worry if it’s not all you hoped for. Sometimes the most important thing is to try it and if it doesn't work out, at least you can say you tried and you have no regrets.

Get in tune with your mind and body, and make the best decisions for you.

  3. Do you know what? I took my belly bar out after I fell pregnant and only put it back in this year and it's so funny how it just made me feel like me again. It may be a bit outdated now (I had mine done at 16) but I love it!
