2022 has absolutely flown by - how is it almost 2023 already? Honestly, I can't believe how quickly this year has gone. Surely it was 2021 only yesterday?
This year has definitely been a busy one for me, with lots of planning and prep, a big life event, and of course, plenty of fun and games along the way too.
But what were my highlights of 2022? Read on to find out!
- Let's kick things off with the big one... I got married! All the months of planning and organisation paid off as we had an incredible day in the sunshine with all our friends and family
- I enjoyed a fantastic Harry Potter-themed hen party organised by my wonderful bridesmaids
- I realised who the most important people in my life are, and stopped putting time and energy into those who don't consider me an important person in their life
- I discovered my favourite ever TV show (Young Royals) and a new favourite comfort show (Heartstopper)
- I realised that putting yourself first and protecting your mental health is not a weakness
- I continued learning French and started learning Swedish too
- I formally changed my name after our wedding (still getting used to being Mrs L!)
- Finally, I got to see the Green Bay Packers play in London. Go Pack Go!
- I read 61 books
- We completed some more work on our home, continuing to make it into our own space
- We enjoyed a relaxing minimoon in a cabin in the beautiful Welsh countryside
- We visited my brother in Leeds for the first time and had a tour of the city
- 2022 was definitely a popular year to tie the knot! As well as our own big day, we also celebrated three other weddings of family and friends this year
- I grew my own vegetables for the first time
- We celebrated Father's Day with a day out hiking in the Peak District, sharing the spot we got engaged with my closest family members
- I went to the theatre to see 2:22 A Ghost Story
- I also went to a few more concerts this year - Coldplay, and The Killers. Coincidentally, my most-played song of the year was also a Killers track!
- YALC was finally back in-person! I attended the event in London, met some lovely authors, went along to some panels, and bought far too many books
- We enjoyed a short break in Canterbury where I introduced my husband to my old uni city
- We celebrated Mother's Day by dressing up and enjoying a posh afternoon tea
Well, it's pretty safe to say that 2022 is a year I won't be forgetting in a hurry. I'll be sad to say goodbye to this year, but it's always important to keep looking ahead. You never know just what the future will hold, so bring on 2023!
